Biography
Ronald Adam, born Ronald George Hinings Adams, was a British actor and theatre manager. He appeared in over 140 film and television productions between the 1930s and 1978, frequently cast as officials, ministers or authority figures.
Born in Bromyard, Herefordshire, in 1896, Adam served as an officer in the Royal Flying Corps during the First World War and as a fighter controller in the Royal Air Force during the Battle of Britain; he was awarded the OBE in 1946. After the war he trained as a chartered accountant before moving into theatre management and then acting under the stage name Ronald Adam.
Among his film credits are Turner in The Lavender Hill Mob (1951), Eldridge Harper in The Haunting (1963), a club steward in Around the World in 80 Days (1956), Mr Riggs in Under Capricorn (1949) and Dr White in Green for Danger (1946).
