Biography
Ronald John Allen (16 December 1930 – 18 June 1991) was an English actor. He is best known for his long-running role as David Hunter in the ITV soap opera Crossroads (1969–1985).
Allen was born in Reading, Berkshire, and studied at Leighton Park School before training at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) in London, where he won the John Gielgud Scholarship. He worked in repertory theatre and had a season at the Old Vic. His early screen credits include the role of Mr. Clarke in the film A Night to Remember (1958).
He appeared twice in Doctor Who, as Rago in The Dominators (1968) and as Ralph Cornish in The Ambassadors of Death (1970). Allen also made guest appearances in The Comic Strip Presents..., including as Uncle Quentin in Five Go Mad in Dorset (1982). In 1991 he married actress Sue Lloyd, his on-screen wife from Crossroads.
