Biography

Rosalie Varda, also credited as Rosalie Varda-Demy, is a French costume designer and producer. Born on 28 May 1958 in Paris, she trained at the École du Louvre and Studio Berçot in haute couture before beginning work in film and theatre.

She designed costumes for films including A Room in Town (1982), Godard's Passion (1982), Parking (1985) and One Hundred and One Nights (1995), collaborating with directors such as Jacques Demy, Agnès Varda and Jean-Luc Godard. She later worked as a producer, most notably on the documentary Faces Places (2017), directed by her mother Agnès Varda and JR, which received an Academy Award nomination for Best Documentary Feature.

Varda is the daughter of Agnès Varda and Antoine Bourseiller, and was adopted by Jacques Demy. She serves as artistic director of the family company Ciné-Tamaris.
