Biography
Rosemary Anne Sisson (13 October 1923 – 28 July 2017) was an English television dramatist, screenwriter and novelist. She was born in Enfield, Middlesex, the daughter of Shakespeare scholar Charles Jasper Sisson, and educated at Cheltenham Ladies’ College, University College London and Newnham College, Cambridge. After lecturing in English literature at several universities and working as a drama critic, she turned to writing for stage and screen.
Sisson contributed scripts to historical television series including The Six Wives of Henry VIII (1970), Elizabeth R (1971) and Upstairs, Downstairs (1971–75), for which she wrote 11 episodes. She also wrote screenplays for Disney films such as Candleshoe (1977), The Watcher in the Woods (1980) and The Black Cauldron (1985), and the animated The Wind in the Willows (1983). Other credits include co-creating the series The Bretts (1987–88) and episodes of The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles.
