Biography
Roshan Kumari is an Indian classical dancer, actor and choreographer, known for her work in Kathak of the Jaipur gharana. She appeared as Krishna Bai in Satyajit Ray’s The Music Room (1958), performing a nine-minute Kathak sequence.
She later worked as a choreographer on films including Gopi (1970), Chaitali (1975), Lekin... (1990) and Sardari Begum (1996). Kumari founded the Nritya Kala Kendra academy in Mumbai. She received the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1976 and the Padma Shri in 1984.
