Biography
Rouiched, born Ahmed Ayad, was an Algerian comedy actor and singer. He made his screen debut with an uncredited role as The Drunk Man in Gillo Pontecorvo's The Battle of Algiers (1966).
Self-taught, he began in theatre in the 1940s and became a leading figure in Algerian stage comedy, working with actors including Rachid Ksentini and Mustapha Kateb. After independence he joined the Algerian National Theatre and gained wider recognition for his performance in Hassan Terro (1967), directed by Mohamed Lakhdar-Hamina. He appeared in further films such as L'Opium et le Bâton (1969) and continued working in television until his death.
