Biography
Roy Kinnear (also credited as Roy Mitchell Kinnear) was an English character actor and comedian. He trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and began his career on stage and in British television, including the satirical series That Was the Week That Was.
He appeared in numerous films, notably as Algernon in Help! (1965), Mr Salt in Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (1971), Planchet in The Three Musketeers (1973) and The Four Musketeers (1974), and Pipkin (voice) in Watership Down (1978). He frequently collaborated with director Richard Lester. Kinnear died in 1988 following a riding accident while filming The Return of the Musketeers.
He was married to actress Carmel Cryan; their children include actor Rory Kinnear.
