Biography
Rudolph Borchert (1928–2003) was an American screenwriter. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, he served as a first lieutenant in a tank battalion during the Korean War and received a Bronze Star Medal. He began his writing career with the 1970 children's book Bravo, Burro! co-authored with John Fante, before entering television in 1974.
Borchert wrote episodes for series including Kolchak: The Night Stalker (1974), The Rockford Files (five episodes, 1975–1980), CHiPs, Quincy, M.E., Police Woman, Ellery Queen, The Bionic Woman, T. J. Hooker and Scarecrow and Mrs. King. He co-wrote the final regular episode of The Rockford Files, "Deadlock in Parma", and the screenplay for the 1979 film The Little Dragons. He retired in 1987.
Borchert died on 29 March 2003 in Malibu, California, after a long illness.
