Biography
Rudy Vallee, born Hubert Prior Vallée, was an American singer, saxophonist, bandleader and actor. He began his career performing on saxophone and as a singer, forming the Connecticut Yankees and gaining national popularity through radio variety shows in the late 1920s and 1930s.
Vallee appeared in dozens of films, often in supporting comic or character roles later in his career. He played John D. Hackensacker III in Preston Sturges's The Palm Beach Story (1942) and reprised his Broadway role as J. B. Biggley in the 1967 film of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.
He died in Los Angeles in 1986.
