Biography

Russ Conway, born Russell Clarence Zink, was a Canadian-American actor. He was born on 25 April 1913 in Brandon, Manitoba, Canada, and died on 12 January 2009 in Laguna Hills, California. He graduated from UCLA in 1937 and later obtained a master's degree in theatre arts and a teaching credential from the same university.

Conway began his Hollywood career in 1947 after serving in the US Army during the Second World War, where he directed entertainment and worked as a producer and announcer for Armed Forces Radio in Japan. He appeared in dozens of films and television series, frequently cast as law enforcement officers, military personnel or clergy. Notable film roles include Quintus in The Heiress (1949), Rev. Bethany in The War of the Worlds (1953) and a police officer in What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? (1962). On television he played Fenton Hardy in the Hardy Boys serial on The Mickey Mouse Club and guest-starred in series including Mission: Impossible, Bonanza and Get Smart.
