Biography
Ruth Gemmell is a British actress. Born in Bristol in October 1967, she trained at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art.
She first starred in the film Fever Pitch (1997) and has since appeared in numerous television series. These include Utopia (2013–2014) as Jen Dugdale, Penny Dreadful (2015) as Octavia Putney, Home Fires (2015–2016) and the Tracy Beaker franchise as Carly Beaker. She is known for playing Lady Violet Bridgerton in Bridgerton (2020–).
Gemmell was married to actor Ray Stevenson from 1997 to 2005.
