Biography
Ruth Hussey was an American actress. She was born Ruth Carol Hussey on 30 October 1911 in Providence, Rhode Island, and died on 19 April 2005 in Newbury Park, California.
After summer stock and work as a radio fashion commentator and model, she signed with MGM and made her film debut in 1937. She appeared in films including The Women (1939), Another Thin Man (1939), Northwest Passage (1940) and The Uninvited (1944). Hussey received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Elizabeth 'Liz' Imbrie in The Philadelphia Story (1940). She also worked in television, including an episode of Alfred Hitchcock Presents (1956), and on stage, appearing on Broadway in State of the Union (1945).
In 1942 she married talent agent Charles Robert Longenecker; they had three children.
