Biography
Ruth Paxton is a Scottish film and television director. She graduated in 2007 with an MA in Film and TV from Screen Academy Scotland, having completed an honours degree at Edinburgh College of Art.
Her short films include Pulse (2014), for which she won Best Woman Director at the 12th London Short Film Festival, Paris/Sexy (2010) and Be Still My Beating Heart (2019). She has directed six episodes of the BBC continuing drama River City (2020–2021) and six episodes of Shetland (2024–2025). Her debut feature, the psychological horror A Banquet (2021), premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival.
