Biography
Ruy Polanah was a Brazilian actor and production manager. Born in 1922, he died on 3 September 2008 in Brazil. He appeared in numerous films from the 1960s onwards, often in roles depicting indigenous or Amazonian characters.
His credits include the Rubber Baron in Werner Herzog's Fitzcarraldo (1982), Wanadi in John Boorman's The Emerald Forest (1985), Kori in At Play in the Fields of the Lord (1991), and The Soothsayer in Journey to the End of the Night (2006). He also worked as a production manager on films such as São Bernardo (1972) and appeared in Brazilian productions including Os Deuses e os Mortos (1970) and Orfeu (1999).
