Biography
S. J. Warmington was an English actor who appeared in film, stage, radio and early television. Born Stanley James Warmington on 16 December 1884 in Hertfordshire, he trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art after working as a journalist. He performed in West End and Broadway productions from the 1910s onwards.
Warmington is known for supporting roles in several early Alfred Hitchcock films, including Bennett in Murder! (1930), a gang member in The Man Who Knew Too Much (1934), a Scotland Yard man in The 39 Steps (1935) and Hollingshead in Sabotage (1936). His other screen credits include Wisp o' the Woods (1919) and The Crooked Lady (1932). He also appeared in BBC radio series such as Inspector Hornleigh Investigates and two television productions in 1939.
He was married to actress Olga Slade from 1934 until his death on 10 May 1941 in London during an air raid.
