Biography
Safowa Bright-Asare, also credited as Safowa Bright Bitzelberger, is a costume designer and supervisor. Her early credits include costume design on the 2003 film The Room.
She has worked on features such as Tournament of Dreams (2007) and The Virgin of Juarez (2006), and in television as costume supervisor on series including In Treatment (2008), Ballers (2015–2018), Palm Springs (2020) and Colin in Black and White (2021). More recent work includes costume design on the Netflix limited series Griselda (2024), for which she received a Primetime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Period Costumes for a Limited or Anthology Series.
Additional credits encompass supervisor roles on projects directed by Ava DuVernay, such as Origin (2023) and DMZ (2022).
