Biography

Sally Kellerman was an American actress and singer. Born in Long Beach, California, she attended Hollywood High School and Los Angeles City College, and studied at the Actors Studio. She began her career with television roles in the late 1950s and 1960s.

Kellerman is best known for playing Major Margaret 'Hot Lips' O'Houlihan in Robert Altman's 1970 film MASH, a performance that earned her Academy Award and Golden Globe nominations for Best Supporting Actress. She appeared in several other Altman films, including Brewster McCloud (1970), The Player (1992) and Prêt-à-Porter (1994). Her other credits include Star Trek (1966) as Dr Elizabeth Dehner and Back to School* (1986).

She died in Los Angeles on 24 February 2022.
