Biography
Salvatore Cantalupo (8 July 1959 – 13 August 2018) was an Italian actor. Born in Naples, he began his career in the theatre in the 1980s after playing drums in a punk band. He collaborated with Teatri Uniti di Napoli on productions including works by Marivaux and Vitaliano Trevisan, and made his film debut in 1998 in Mario Martone's Rehearsals for War.
Cantalupo became known to wider audiences for his role as the exploited tailor Pasquale in Matteo Garrone's Gomorrah (2008). He also appeared as Giovanni De Santis in Qualunquemente (2011) and in films including Fort Apache Napoli (2009), We Believed (2010), Leopardi (2014) and Tenderness (2017). He directed several theatre productions and ran acting workshops.
