Biography
Sam Hardy (also credited as Sam B. Hardy or Samuel B. Hardy) was an American stage and film actor. Born in New Haven, Connecticut, he attended Yale University before leaving to pursue acting. He began his stage career on Broadway and entered films with Biograph Studios in 1915, appearing in around 85 movies through the silent and early sound eras, often in comedic supporting roles.
Hardy is known for his performances as Bob Hornsby in The Miracle Woman (1931) and as the theatrical agent Charles Weston in King Kong (1933). He was married to Betty Scott.
Hardy died in Los Angeles on 16 October 1935, aged 52, following emergency surgery for intestinal problems while working on the film Shoot the Chutes.
