Biography
Samuel D. Pollard is an American film director, editor, producer and screenwriter. He began his career in 1972 as an editor after taking courses in a WNET workshop and obtained a BA from Baruch College in 1973. Early mentors included Victor Kanefsky and George Bowers.
Pollard has edited several feature films directed by Spike Lee, including Clockers (1995). He has directed documentaries for television series such as American Experience. His work includes the Academy Award-nominated 4 Little Girls (1997), for which he received a nomination alongside Spike Lee. In 2020, the International Documentary Association gave him a career achievement award.
