Biography
Sam Ross was a novelist and television scriptwriter. Born in Kiev in the Russian Empire (now Ukraine), he moved to Chicago as a child, attended Northwestern University and served in the Merchant Marine during the Second World War before becoming a full-time writer.
His first novel, He Ran All the Way (1947), was adapted into a 1951 film starring John Garfield and Shelley Winters. Ross wrote episodes for numerous television series, including three for The Fugitive (1966–1967), as well as Mannix, Ben Casey, Rawhide and The Six Million Dollar Man. He also taught writing at UCLA and other institutions.
