Biography
Samuel A. Taylor (born Samuel Albert Tanenbaum) was an American playwright and screenwriter. Born in Chicago, Illinois, on 13 June 1912, he made his Broadway debut as the author of the play The Happy Time in 1950.
Taylor wrote the play Sabrina Fair (1953) and co-wrote the screenplay for its 1954 film adaptation Sabrina. He contributed to the screenplay for Alfred Hitchcock’s Vertigo (1958) and later wrote the script for Hitchcock’s Topaz (1969). Other screen credits include The Eddy Duchin Story (1956) and Goodbye Again (1961). His plays also include The Pleasure of His Company (1958) and Avanti! (1968), the latter adapted as a 1972 film.
Taylor died on 26 May 2000 in Blue Hill, Maine.
