Biography
Samuel Ramey is an American operatic bass and voice actor. Born on 28 March 1942 in Colby, Kansas, he studied music at Kansas State University and Wichita State University.
He performed leading bass roles at major opera houses including the Metropolitan Opera, La Scala and the Royal Opera House. Ramey is known for his recordings and stage appearances in works by Handel, Mozart, Rossini, Verdi and Meyerbeer.
He provided the singing voice of Figaro in the 1984 film Amadeus and voiced The Beast in the 2014 animated miniseries Over the Garden Wall, also performing the song "Come Wayward Souls".
