Biography
Samuel Scott is a New Zealand composer, singer and guitarist. He is a founding member of the indie-rock band The Phoenix Foundation and works as one third of the composing collective Moniker alongside bandmates Lukasz Buda and Conrad Wedde.
Scott began scoring for screen in 2005 with the television series Seven Periods with Mr Gormsby. He has composed for numerous films and series, often in collaboration with director Taika Waititi. His credits include the scores for Boy (2010) and Hunt for the Wilderpeople (2016), the latter as part of Moniker. He has also worked on Cleverman (2017), Wellington Paranormal and other television productions.
Moniker’s score for Boy won Best Score at the 2010 New Zealand Film and Television Awards. The group has received further nominations and awards for its film and television work.
