Biography
Santiago A. Zapata is a Colombian producer and screenwriter. Born in Oakland, California, he began his career directing music videos, short films and commercials before moving into feature production. He worked at Contento Films in Medellín, where he contributed to the development of local film incentives.
His early credits include associate producer on The Boy (2015) and producer on City of Dead Men (2016). He produced Monos (2019), which was shortlisted for the 2020 Academy Awards for Best International Feature Film and received a Goya nomination. The film is among the most awarded in Colombian cinema history.
Zapata co-founded the VOD platform Mowies.com. He later served as head of film and television at Ntertain Studios and, in 2025, was appointed scripted vice president at A Fábrica Mexico & U.S. Hispanic. He has acted as showrunner on the Disney+ series Los Montaner.
