Biography
Satoru Chūko (10 February 1912 – 6 August 1994) was a Japanese production designer and art director. He was born in Chiba Prefecture and worked extensively in Japanese cinema, particularly at Toho studios.
Chūko frequently collaborated with director Mikio Naruse. His credits on Naruse films include art direction or production design on Repast (1951), Floating Clouds (1955), Flowing (1956), When a Woman Ascends the Stairs (1960), Yearning (1964) and Two in the Shadow (1967).
He also worked on the original Godzilla (1954) as art director and production designer, alongside Takeo Kita, and contributed to the American version Godzilla, King of the Monsters! (1956).
