Biography
Scott B. Smith is an American author and screenwriter. Born on 13 July 1965 in Summit, New Jersey, he studied at Dartmouth College and received an MFA from Columbia University.
His debut novel, A Simple Plan (1993), was adapted into a 1998 film directed by Sam Raimi; Smith wrote the screenplay and received a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay. He has also written the screenplays for the film adaptations of his second novel The Ruins (2006, film 2008), as well as Siberia (2018) and The Burnt Orange Heresy (2020). Smith created and wrote the television series The Peripheral (2022).
