Biography

Scott Shepherd is an American television writer and producer. He wrote episodes of Miami Vice (1984), including 'Redemption in Blood' and 'Freefall' (both with Ken Solarz), 'Bad Timing', 'Hard Knocks' and 'Over the Line'. He also contributed as supervising producer on the series' fifth season.

His other writing credits include episodes of Matt Houston, The Equalizer (13 episodes), Quantum Leap (three episodes), Tru Calling, The Outer Limits, The Dead Zone and Haven. He has produced or served as showrunner on series including The Equalizer, Quantum Leap, The Young Riders, The Dead Zone, Haven and Designated Survivor. Shepherd received a Primetime Emmy nomination for outstanding drama series for his work on Quantum Leap.

Born in New York and raised in Los Angeles, Shepherd graduated from Stanford University with a B.A. in English. He teaches television writing at the University of Texas at Austin and has written mystery novels including The Last Commandment (2021) and Should I Fall (2022). He is the son of film producer Richard Shepherd.
