Biography
Sean Buckley is a British writer for television, film and theatre. Born in Balham, South London, he studied drama at the École Jacques Lecoq in Paris. He began his career in theatre, with his first play Matches for Monkeys joint winner of the Verity Bargate Award; other stage work includes pieces for Paines Plough and Radio 3. In 2007 he was Pearson Writer-in-Residence with the Royal Shakespeare Company.
Buckley wrote episodes across three series of the E4 drama Skins (2007), including the episode 'Freddie' in series four and the series-five opener introducing the third generation of characters. He contributed the one-off drama Foreign John (also referred to as Honest John) to Channel 4’s Coming Up strand in 2009. His later credits include the short film Polar Bear (2016), which he wrote and directed, and the feature-length factual drama Responsible Child (2019), which won an International Emmy Award for Best TV Movie/Mini-Series.
