Biography
Sean Caffrey (15 April 1940 – 25 April 2013) was an actor from Northern Ireland. Born in Belfast, he attended Queen's University there and began his professional career in the mid-1960s with a leading role in the BBC television drama Boy in the Smoke (1965). He gained early recognition for film parts in I Was Happy Here (1966), Run with the Wind (1966), The Viking Queen (1967) and When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth (1970), in which he played Kane.
Caffrey appeared in numerous British television series including No Hiding Place, Coronation Street, Z-Cars, Doctor Who (as Lord Palmerdale in the 1977 serial Horror of Fang Rock), The Professionals, Minder, Bergerac, Harry's Game (1982) and Edge of Darkness (1985). He also worked as a playwright and stage designer, co-founding the North Face Theatre Company with his life partner Phil Thompson, and performed at venues including the Lyric Theatre in Belfast and the Bristol Old Vic.
