Biography
Segun Akinola is an English composer for film, television and documentaries. He studied composition at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, graduating with first-class honours in 2014, and later completed an MA in Composing for Film and Television at the National Film and Television School.
Akinola is best known for his work on the BBC series Doctor Who, serving as composer for series 11, 12 and 13 (2018–2022) and the accompanying specials, including a new arrangement of the theme tune. Earlier credits include the documentary series Black and British: A Forgotten History (2016) and the feature film A Moving Image (2016). He was named a BAFTA Breakthrough Brit in 2017.
