Biography
Seizaburō Kawazu was a Japanese actor. Born on 31 August 1908 in Nihonbashi, Tokyo, he made his screen debut in 1927 and appeared in over 300 films and television productions across five decades.
He began as a leading man in pre-war dramas before becoming a prolific character actor in the post-war period, often cast as villains, officials or gang bosses. Kawazu is known internationally for his role as the brothel operator Seibê in Akira Kurosawa’s Yojimbo (1961). Other notable credits include Mothra (1961), The Insect Woman (1963) and Sex and Fury (1973). He died on 20 February 1983.
