Biography

Sergio Rubini is an Italian actor, film director and screenwriter. He was born on 21 December 1959 in Grumo Appula, Apulia. He moved to Rome to study acting at the Silvio d'Amico National Academy of Dramatic Arts and began his film career in the mid-1980s.

Rubini made his directorial debut with La stazione (1990), which he co-wrote. His acting credits include The Talented Mr. Ripley (1999) as Inspector Roverini, The Passion of the Christ (2004) as Dismas, Nirvana (1997), A Pure Formality (1994) and The Count of Monte Cristo (1998). He has frequently collaborated with Margherita Buy, to whom he was married from 1991 to 1993.
