Biography
Shane Boris is an American film producer and writer. Born in 1981 in Littleton, Colorado, he studied at Oberlin College and Jawaharlal Nehru University before entering documentary filmmaking. He is the founder of the production company Cottage M.
Boris has produced several acclaimed documentaries, including The Edge of Democracy (2019), for which he received an Academy Award nomination, and Navalny (2022), which won the Oscar for Best Documentary Feature. He also wrote and produced Fire of Love (2022), earning further Oscar and BAFTA nominations, and produced The AI Doc: Or How I Became an Apocaloptimist (2026). His other credits include All These Sleepless Nights (2016) and King Coal (2023).
He has received multiple honours, including a BAFTA and an Emmy nomination, and is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
