Biography
Shari Lewis (1933–1998) was an American ventriloquist, puppeteer, actress and writer. She created the sock puppet Lamb Chop, which first appeared on the children's programme Captain Kangaroo in 1956. She hosted several children's television series, including The Shari Lewis Show on NBC from 1960.
With her husband Jeremy Tarcher, Lewis co-wrote the Star Trek episode "The Lights of Zetar" (1969). She also appeared as an actress in episodes of The Man from U.N.C.L.E. (1964) and The Nanny (1993), and performed additional voice work in animation. Lewis conducted major symphony orchestras and wrote more than sixty children's books.
