Biography
Shawn White is a British gaffer and chief lighting technician. Born in London on 8 June 1972, he began his career as an electrician after completing an apprenticeship and working for Lee Lighting. His father, Jack White, was also an electrician in the film industry.
White progressed to gaffing commercials, second units and additional photography before his first major feature credit as lighting gaffer on Below (2002). He has since served as gaffer or chief lighting technician on numerous high-profile films, including Casino Royale (2006), The Da Vinci Code (2006), Angels & Demons (2009), Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows (2011), The Martian (2015), The Legend of Tarzan (2016), Kingsman: The Golden Circle (2017) and The Hitman's Bodyguard (2017). He is also credited as director of photography on A Working Man (2025).
