Biography
Shelby Lynne, also credited as Shelby Lynne Moorer, is an American singer-songwriter and actress. Born on 22 October 1968 in Quantico, Virginia, she began her recording career in the late 1980s and released several country albums before achieving wider recognition with the 1999 album I Am Shelby Lynne, for which she won the Grammy Award for Best New Artist in 2001.
Lynne has taken on occasional acting roles. She portrayed Carrie Cash, the mother of Johnny Cash, in the 2005 biographical film Walk the Line. She has also appeared in episodes of the television series Army Wives (2009) and the film When We Kill the Creators (2020). Her sister, Allison Moorer, is also a singer-songwriter.
