Biography
Sherman Kunkel (1919–1991) was an American cinematographer and camera operator whose career spanned feature films and numerous television series from the 1960s to the 1980s. He began in the camera department, working as an assistant camera operator on films including Cleopatra (1963) and as camera operator on Duel (1971).
Kunkel served as director of photography on episodes of MASH (1972), Magnum, P.I. (1980), Police Squad! (1982) and Fame (1982–1985), among many others. He received two Primetime Emmy Award nominations for outstanding cinematography, for Baretta and Fame*.
