Biography
Sherri Shepherd is an American actress and comedian. Born in Chicago, Illinois, she began performing stand-up in 1990 while working as a legal secretary and made her television debut in the short-lived series Cleghorne! (1995).
She is known for her starring role as Ramona Platt in the sitcom Less Than Perfect (2002–2006), a recurring role as Angie Jordan in 30 Rock (2007–2012), and her performance as Cornrows in the film Precious: Based on the Novel 'Push' by Sapphire (2009). She co-hosted the daytime talk show The View from 2007 to 2014 and received a Daytime Emmy Award for the role.
Shepherd has hosted the syndicated talk show Sherri (2022–2026) and appeared in films including Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa (2008), Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son (2011) and Ride Along 2 (2016). In 2026 she is scheduled to play the Genie in the Broadway production of the musical Aladdin.
