Biography
Shigesato Itoi is a Japanese actor, copywriter, essayist and game designer. Born on 10 November 1948 in Maebashi, Gunma, he voiced Tatsuo Kusakabe in the Studio Ghibli film My Neighbor Totoro (1988). He made his live-action screen debut in Norwegian Wood (2010) as a university professor.
Itoi has appeared in other films including Scrap: A Love Story (1984) as a detective and My Soul Is Slashed (1991). He is married to actress Kanako Higuchi.
