Biography
Shira Piven is an American director, actress and producer. She has directed episodes of the television series Transparent (2014), as well as One Mississippi (2016), Claws (2017), Sweetbitter (2018) and Room 104 (2017).
Piven began her career in theatre, directing more than twenty stage productions in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and Washington, D.C. She founded the Water Theater Company in New York in 1999. Her feature films include Fully Loaded (2011) and Welcome to Me (2015).
She trained at Bennington College and is the daughter of theatre founders Joyce Hiller Piven and Byrne Piven.
