Biography
Sigridur Benediktsdottir is an Icelandic economist and academic specialising in international finance, financial stability and central banking. She was one of three members appointed to the Parliamentary Special Investigation Commission on the causes of the 2008 Icelandic banking collapse.
She appears as herself in the documentary Inside Job (2010) and as Self - Interviewee in the Icelandic television film Baráttan um Ísland (2023). Benediktsdottir holds a PhD in economics from Yale University and has held positions including Director of the Financial Stability Department at the Central Bank of Iceland and Senior Lecturer at Columbia SIPA.
