Biography
Simon Yates is an English mountaineer and actor. Born in 1963 in Leicestershire, he is best known for appearing as himself in the 2003 documentary-drama Touching the Void, which recounts his 1985 expedition with Joe Simpson to climb the west face of Siula Grande in Peru.
Yates has taken on small acting roles in other productions, including the wanted poster policeman in Dr. Plonk (2007) and Vladimir in the television series Woodley (2012). He has also contributed to additional reconstruction work on Touching the Void.
