Biography

Sneha Khanwalkar is an Indian film score composer who works primarily in Hindi cinema. Born on 28 April 1983 in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, she comes from a family with roots in the Gwalior gharana of Hindustani classical music.

She began her career in animation and art direction after moving to Mumbai, before turning to music direction. Her early credits include the short film The Hope (2004). Khanwalkar gained wider recognition for her work on Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! (2008) and the soundtrack for Gangs of Wasseypur (2012), composed with Piyush Mishra. She received a Filmfare Award nomination for Best Music Director for the latter, becoming only the second woman nominated in the category since Usha Khanna.

Other notable scores include Lust Stories (2018), Detective Byomkesh Bakshy! (2015) and Raat Akeli Hai (2020). She is married to filmmaker Kanu Behl.
