Biography
Soia Lira is a Brazilian actress, born Maria Auxiliadora Lira de Souza on 6 March 1962 in Cajazeiras, Paraíba. She began performing in amateur theatre as a child in 1973 with her siblings in her home town, later joining professional productions.
Lira first appeared on screen in 1994. She is known for her role as Ana Fontenele in the 1998 film Central Station, directed by Walter Salles. Subsequent film credits include Behind the Sun (2001), O Quinze (2004), Tattoo (2013) as Dona Albanita and Pacarrete (2019) as Maria. She has also worked in television, appearing in the miniseries A Pedra do Reino (2007) and the series Alice (2008).
