Biography
Sōjin Kamiyama, also credited as Sojin or under variants such as Mitsugu Mita, was a Japanese film actor. He appeared in more than seventy films between 1917 and 1954.
Born in Miyagi Prefecture, Japan, he began his career in theatre before moving to the United States. His breakthrough Hollywood role was as the Mongol Prince in The Thief of Bagdad (1924). He subsequently appeared in around fifty American silent films, often in supporting or villainous parts, including The King of Kings (1927).
Kamiyama returned to Japan in the early 1930s and continued working in domestic cinema. His later credits include an uncredited role in Samurai I: Musashi Miyamoto (1954) and the part of a blind player in Seven Samurai (1954).
