Biography
Sonya Winton-Odamtten is an American television writer, producer and playwright. She is also credited as Sonya Winton. She previously worked as a professor at Columbia University and UCLA, and holds PhDs from Yale University.
Winton-Odamtten attended the Warner Bros. Television Writers Workshop in 2010. She has written episodes of series including NCIS: New Orleans (2014–2015), on which she also served as executive story editor, Touch (2012), Wicked City (2015) and The Whole Truth (2010–2012). She contributed teleplays to two episodes of Lovecraft Country (2020) and was co-executive producer on the series.
She has received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Drama Series for Lovecraft Country and a GLAAD Award nomination. In 2019 she signed an overall deal with HBO alongside writing partner Jonathan I. Kidd.
