Biography
Sophie de Rakoff is a British costume designer. Born in London in June 1969, she is the daughter of assistant director and producer Arkadi de Rakoff and the sister of writer-director Alex de Rakoff.
She began her career as a features writer for Paper magazine and other publications before moving into styling for music videos. Her first feature film credit came in 1999. She is best known for designing the costumes for Legally Blonde (2001) and its sequel Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde (2003), as well as for her long collaboration with Reese Witherspoon on films including Sweet Home Alabama (2002), Just Like Heaven (2005) and In Her Shoes (2005), and the series The Morning Show (2019–).
De Rakoff has received Costume Designers Guild Award nominations for her work on contemporary films.
