Biography
Spain Rodriguez (1940–2012) was an American underground cartoonist. He contributed to publications including the East Village Other and Zap Comix, and created the character Trashman. His work appeared in titles such as Anarchy Comics and Arcade.
Rodriguez appeared as himself in the 1995 documentary film Crumb. He was a co-founder of the United Cartoon Workers of America. His comics often drew on his experiences with a motorcycle club and left-wing politics.
Rodriguez was born Manuel Rodriguez in Buffalo, New York, and died in San Francisco, California.
