Biography
Stanford Whitmore (1925–2014) was an American writer of television scripts and films. Born in Sioux City, Iowa, he published the jazz novel Solo in 1955 before turning to screenwriting.
He wrote the pilot episode 'Fear in a Desert City' and three further first-season episodes of the series The Fugitive (1963), including the flashback story 'The Girl from Little Egypt'. Other television credits include episodes of The Wild Wild West (1965), McCloud (1970) and the teleplay for the made-for-television film The Hanged Man (1964). His film work encompasses War Hunt (1962), Hammersmith Is Out (1972) and Baby Blue Marine (1976).
